Happy Effing christmas

Well it's Christmas again and my little brother woke me up so early that I was emotional enough to cry at fucking Muppet Christmas Carol so laugh all you want.. I haven't posted for ages accepted apologies as a present with plenty more to follow but for now here are some Beatles remixes packed with cheer, if not the Christmas variety  ,something that's widening my Christmas smile.

Raj

Raj Mahal is originally from Detroit but says that now he moves from place to place. His is soulful and at times very bass heavy brand of hip-hop or as quoted on his soundcloud "APOCALYPTIC SOUL MUSIC!". As always here are a few of my favourite.

Kanye West- Diamonds (Nick Dean Remix) by NickTheQuick

All music is folk music. I ain't never heard a horse sing a song.

I've been overdosing on the hip-hop and electronic based music in general recently so I've been relaxing with some nice folk and a tea (or three) tonight. I've got a divshare account so I can post tracks without them being big clunky Youtube videos and can give you guys a download. It requires a bit more time and effort per track but seeing as the writing on this blog is lacking in both of those things I'm sure I can manage it. So here's some of the relaxing folk music I was talking about. Click titles for download.

Mountain Goats - Woke Up New

Mason Jennings - The Flood

Mason Jennings - Memphis Tennessee

Joanna Newsom - Bridges and Balloons

Bach

Mmmm

Tasty track dedicated to a tasty drink.

Pogo

Nick Bertke AKA Pogo is a electronic music producer from Austalia, most, if not all his work consists of samples from one film or scene of a film including a quite a few disney and pixar based tracks. His amazing track 'Alice' got a shit load of attention so you may know it. Here are a couple of other really nice tracks, one using Snow White clips and the other using bits from Up which is a personal favourite film of mine and the track is almost as good. You can download a fair few tracks at pogomix.net

Saki

More hip-hop this time from NegroSaki from Florida who really loves his samples. I just stumbled across his soundcloud today, I'm loving his tracks and this picture by him which you can find on his deviantart. He also has a track entirely of Super Smash Bros Brawl sound clips along with Tekken and Final Fantasy remix albums which is pretty damn cool.

Sub Swara

Sub Swara make glitchy dubstep, hip-hop and dancehall with the occasional ethnic drum beat woven in. I heard about these guys a while ago on www.bwompbeats.com which is a great blog well worth checking out. Here are a few of my favourite heavier tracks and a nice picture for you all.

Traffic Jam (Sub Swara refix) by Sub Swara

Bird of Paradise by Sub Swara

Glitterstep (Sub Swara Remix) by Sub Swara

Clappp

More from Japanese hip-hop producer bugseed, I cannot fault this guy's beats, his Bohemian Beatnik LP I posted a while back sounds like Miles Davis with an MPC, if you didn't pick that up get it at his bandcamp. These few tracks are of equal quality, Japan seems to never stop giving us great producers!

B-Ju

I know literally nothing about this guys apart from his wonky brand of hip-hop is sick, so that's all I'm going to write.

Gunpowder, Treason and Plot

Today's the day that we celebrate the foiling of one of the most famous terrorist plots ever by burning oversized dolls of one of the plotters on large fires. Plus there are loads of pretty fireworks! I could post a load of songs related to bonfire night but I can't really think of enough off the top of my head. So instead I'm just going to post a few songs I've been listening to a lot recently. Also we have our first follower that isn't someone I know which is pretty exciting so thanks to Jules for reading and thanks to everyone else reading we are starting to get quite a few hits from outside the UK!

Some Halloween Themed Basss

One Screamin' Jay Hawkins remix from SPLATINUM that I've loved since I first heard a while ago and a couple of free halloween special download tracks from bass-lover Double Oh No. I reckon they are some his best tunes yet so don't miss out while they are up for download.

McMash Clan

Heard these guys on a Kanji mix on mixcloud and had little flick through their soundcloud and turns out they are pretty damn good. Do a variety of dancefloor genres and always fun listen and download a few of their tunes below. You may have seeing them before at Glastonbury playing the awesome fiery spider that is the Arcadia stage!

Dj Premier & Lord Finesse To Release New Big L Album

Dj Premier has announced he will be working with Lord Finesse on a third and final full-length album from the legendary Big L. According to a blog i read, Mother of the late Big L found a lot of unreleased acappellas in his closet that were recorded into pro tools. Dj Premier & Finesse plan to take all this unreleased stuff and put it into one last album in memory of Big L. Should be very exciting! BIG L REST IN PEACE

Tom Waits

Only in the last couple of months have I really discovered Tom Waits, I'd known about him of course, but never given him a fair chance until I got given the compilation CD he did for Mojo magazine a while ago. It's an amazing mix of old blues, folk and bar tunes and stayed on repeat for 3 or 4 weeks in my bedroom. Small Change has to be my favourite album, here are some tunes you have to listen to.

Icky Sticky Stuff

Was just looking around soundcloud and found these bangers.
